Postby jessi_ca99 » Wed Apr 18, 2007 10:58 pm

can anyone give me some info on larence b smiths involvement with sheffield ?
I have looked everywhere online, but cant find any hallmarks to identify the teapot

sheffield
cross, crown, bell (symbols)
L B S CO
1260

cant find anything online with this pattern, or much about these two period. Also this is a teapot has no other markings for electroplating or silver, how do I tell?

thanks jess

The Lawrence B. Smith Company, Boston, Massachusetts, was founded in 1887. Went out of business around 1958.
If your teapot is not marked sterling or 925 then it's silverplated.

Many American firms used the word Sheffield in their mark. Usually seen on electroplate over copper pieces.
Lawrence B. Smith had no connection, that I can find, with Sheffield England.
