Upright anchor with letters A & F...and more...Please he

I'm trying to become knowledgeable about silver in general, including how to distinguish it from silver plate. Can anyone identify these marks? One is an upright anchor with A to the left of the top crossbar & F to right, as well as the number 1 inside the left curve of the anchor bottom & 2 inside the right curve. BLANG is marked elsewhere.

Hello, sounds like the plate mark of Ad. Frenais from Paris. The 12 is the amount of silver in Gramm applied during electroplating. The mark is most likely in a square, isn't it ? The "Blang" is actually "Blanc" for "Metal blanc", the base metal, which in this case is not brass, but German Silver, an alloy of copper and nickel among others. Best wishes, Bahner

Hi Bahner,
Appreciate your help! I've looked at the British plate marks on this site--is there a site with other countries' plate marks?
Thanks again,
Abel

Hi,
At the bottom of the French Hallmarks page, there is a little section on French plate marks that will give you an idea of what they look like.
