Found a West & Son Platter but can't find much info.

Postby spec6294 » Thu Mar 15, 2007 2:13 am

I found a silver dish at the Salvation Army that has West & Son and some marks on the back but I can't find much info on the name or the marks. Are they still in business? Does anyone know how old this could be? Image
It appears tp be silver plate but I am no judge of silver by any means.
Any help would be appreciated.

I think those are silverplate marks. West & Son, Dublin Ireland, was an important retail firm in the late 19th century and at least the first half of the 20th century.
They did have sterling marks entered in Dublin.
