The letters EP stand for ElectroPlated, Which means the item is silverplated. Usually the next letters refer to the base metal under the silverplate. Not sure what HB stands for.
EPBP = ElectroPlated British Plate
EPBM = ElectroPlated Britannia Metal
EPNS = ElectroPlated Nickel Silver
EPC = ElectroPlated Copper.
EPGS = ElectroPlated German Silver.
