Cannon mark

Postby Drusilla » Thu Mar 01, 2007 12:28 am

I am looking for information on a silver tea/coffee set (over copper) that I just inherited. The mark on the bottom of the pieces is a left pointing cannon. The set was appraised as Sheffield, but I cannot find reference to that mark on this site and I do not have any books. The pieces I have are two magnificent coffee pots and one creamer and one sugar pot. The pots have rosewood handles. I tried to take a photo of the mark but the silver is so mirror like that it just reflects the flash back!
I am 47 and was told by my late mother that the set was used by my grandmother. I am interested in the history of the pieces so that I may include it with the set for my daughter when I pass on.
Thank you for any help and information you may have on this mark.[/img]
