Confused! Inscribed date 1850

Postby BetteG » Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:25 am

This tea service has an inscribed date of 1850 in the center of the tray, but is marked tripleplate. 1850 seems very early for tripleplate pieces. There is no manufacturer's mark. Can anyone explain my confusion? Do you recognize these pieces? I would really like to know the manufacturer, as well as a circa date. I think it should be late 19th century, but...

The tray is the last photo, the leg is photo 2, and the full tea set is 1.

Thanks, Bette
