Any ideas regarding the content of the metal of this money clip?
What is DD.90? Also, any thoughts on its age and origin?
(Admin edit; please review our posting requirements at top of site page).

I live in a Dutch settled area, so I am thinking it is local. It was very tarnished before I took the pics.

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I belive your money clip is silverplated. Many foreign countries used a two digit number to indicate the quality or thickness of the silverplate.
The 90 represents the number of grams of silver deposited over a certain number of pieces, usually 12 or 24 for flatware.
Believe DD is a manufacturer located in the Netherlands. Sorry, don't know who that is. They also made a lot of souvenir spoons.

Regards,
Pat.

BTW that's a bookmark, not a moneyclip.

Thanks for the help!

Regarding the silverplating on the bookmark (geez, that seems obvious now), .90 would be approximately one gram of silverplate?

This is the first time I have used this site, and I am very impressed with your knowledge and your kindness towards a new poster.

I appreciate your input!

Don't feel bad about the bookmark, you're not the only one who missed it.

That would be 90 grams of silver on many pieces, not just on your one bookmark. On flatware the number of pieces varies. Could be on 12 or 24 pieces for example.

Pat.

Thanks!!

90 grams of silver spread out over many pieces in a lot of bookmarks? So DD.90 has no significance other than meaning that it is silver plated (and was most likely manufactured by a company in the Netherlands)?

Thank you for the input!
