I have a set of six silver gilt teaspoons with a makers mark of P Morin , other marks include a 10 within a diamond, and what appears to be a face or lions head. There are a nice set and I would be fascinated to learn more about them,

many thanks for any help

Not sure if it's the same P. Morin, but there was a Paul Morin who was located in Quebec City, Canada (1775-1805). He usually used a mark of P.M along with a variety of pseudo marks.

Pat.

many thanks for your help Pat, not sure if these are of the period you quoted. This set of 6 spoons are solid silver and gilt. The 10 within a diamond could be a continental purity mark but I cannot identify. They also carry very ornate mongrams to terminals.

Although the type of makers mark P MORIN and the mark which appears to be a lions head or bearded face could be colonial marks . This one is certainly confusing!!!!

many thanks

Jason, Can't be sure without seeing them, but from your description, they sound like french silverplate marks.
