My cousin inherited a wooden velvet-lined box which contained 12 silver-plated forks and 12 matching knives. (Perhaps a dessert set)
The handles are made of mother-of-pearl. The forks have no marks nor does the box indicate a maker or year of manufacture. The knives do have a mark located at the base of the blade. The mark is as follows:

"L" "B" " * " "S" "EP"



All letters/symbols are contained within a circle, and the mark at the end showing "EP" is within an oval. The symbol in the middle resembles an asterisk or flower of some sort.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a silverplate mark used by the Levesley Brothers, Sheffield, England, from 1875 to 1935.
