Hi and welcome to the forum.
If you use the Search box at the top right of this page to search for (say) Mappin Princes Plate you will find a few topics on this subject. At present there is no firm solution to the problem of decoding the dating system.

I can't identify the mark in the fork. Is it "H" or something?
