Hello
My mum has been having a clear out and she wants to do a boot sale. The thing is I think the 5 silver fork and 6 silver spoons she has are too goog for that.
Could someone tell me about them.
Forks
They clearly are the length of dessert forks. They have stamped on the back - please bear with me I will do my best to describe.
B in a box with the corners cut off.
Crown
Then this symbol I will probably look stupid for saying, but the only way I can describe it, is that it looks similar to 2 letter C's back to back and rotated to 90 degrees
Circle looking like a globe
Then finally a shield containing a crown with the initials D & A

Spoon
B incased in a circle
Crown
Again 2 C's joined together rotated at 90 degrees.
the female sign in a triangle
Shield containing the initials J.G EP

Please please I havn't a clue as you can tell from my description.
I do have pictures but I can't figure out how to upload them.

Can you help me, otherwise it's a trip to the jewellers again. Last time I had no success.

I believe both the forks and spoons have British silverplate marks on them.

The letters D&A in the shield stands for Daniel & Arter, Birmingham, England. The B in the box refers to Birmingham. The circle/globe mark was one of their trademarks.

The letters JG in the shield stand for Joseph Gilbert, Birmingham, England. The letters EP stand for ElectroPlated which means they are silverplated. The B in the circle refers to Birmingham. The female sign was one of his trademarks.

I hope this information helps,

Pat.
