Requesting Help To ID Hallmark

Postby rodandgun » Thu Jan 05, 2017 11:46 pm

Can anyone please help in identifying this hallmark? I know that E.P.N.S. stands for electric plated nickel silver. All input will be greatly appreciated. Many thanks,

James

Welcome to the forum. Possibly the trademark for the company of Wheelock Peet Bingham of Indianapolis. I won't be able to follow up any further on this myself for a while.

Many thanks you for your input. I Googled this name but could not find a matching hallmark. With what appears to be the two lions, I was curious if it could be European.

All I have to go on is this listing in Logan's 1876 Indianapolis Directory: BINGHAM WHEELOCK P., (W. P. B. & Co.,) watches, jewelry, diamonds and silver-plated ware, 50 e. Washington, res.

Lions were used in trademarks around the world. They do add an impression of authenticity and were likely borrowed from hallmarks and amorials.

I hope these help with the ID of the hallmark.
