D & S fleur de lis G mark

I presume this is silver plate? can anyone confirm please? Ive been googling all day and got more confused than I started, thank you!!

Welcome to the Forum.

Yes, the item would be either nickel silver or plated. If it was silver it would bear official British hallmarks.

The maker is almost certainly Davis & Sons of Glasgow.

Yes, it's electroplate. D&S are the manufacturer's initials and I would expect that the "G" would stand for the manufacturing town or city. I would speculate therefore that the manufacturer may be Davis & Sons of Glasgow. There is a similar mark here: http://www.925-1000.com/silverplate_D.html
