Silverplated Flatware Markings

Postby mdolce » Wed Jul 26, 2006 11:38 am

I inherited a box of flatware which is all fiddle pattern that appears to be silver but more likely is silverplated. It consists of many different size spoons and forks. The markings are script letters "JGJ & Co and A1".

I searched many sites and only found one reference to a Joseph G. Jodah, Toronto 1838-64 as a possible manufacturer. I believe the marking A1 references the thickness or type of plating used.

Please confirm if I am on the right track.
