HELP! I need to identify stamps on straw spoons

Post by SDB »

I acquired these in a storage auction. I have found other spoons like them; however they are from Mexico or have the .925 mark on them. These do not and I am having a hard time telling what the mark is. Is it two towers and RC below? Is it a crown on top?

A two towers mark on a Danish spoon tells us that it is silver plated.

Apologies if a new user raising an old thread from the dead is frowned upon in these parts, but, just for posterity - or rather for any researchers who may land on this thread in future, I wish to offer (having rifled through hundreds of Danish silverplate items over the years) that I have never seen the Danish two towers mark (to-tårne) conjoined with something else as one mark.

For me, in this case, the whole mark is something else, but the straw is more likely plated than not - it certainly looks like some brassy material has worn through in three or four places.

One of my early finds in Denmark was a straw spoon marked 800 and that took on a distinctly brassy tone after a polish :-)
