EPNS legible old liquor caddy what are 2nd line symbols?

Postby buffkitty » Sun Jun 04, 2006 12:23 pm

I found an old liquor caddy at an auction last week and am curious to know what the 4 symbols beneath the EPNS mean. I know EPNS stands for Electoplated Nickel Silver and means it was manufactured from 1896 on. That is what I have found by reading. But what I can't find out info about is on the symbols. I blew them up in the first picture so you can see them and hopefully help me out. I see no letter to tell me what date it might be from unless one of the symbols means a date. Anyone help me out? I don't have a book and since I don't collect silver pieces I don't want to invest in a book right now.

Thanks in advance!
