Who/what is "Eberle"?

Postby mbsan1 » Sun May 14, 2006 3:47 pm

I understand that alpaca silver is composed of nickel, zinc and copper coated with sterling. But does anyone know who (or what) the trademarke "Eberle" is?

Thank you for any information you can give -

Although alpacca is often silverplated, there are many makers who used it raw in appreciation of its own properties.
A google search for the name eberle + alpacca yields mostly Argentinian Mate cups and spoons. It seems that the maker was either a German company with strong export ties to South America (or a branch there) or a South American manufactury founded by a German immigrant. Let's hope someone else has some definitive info.

Regards, Tom
