hummer fork - unknown origin - WITH (poor) IMAGE

Postby sebrock » Thu Apr 20, 2006 7:45 am

hello everybody,

my grandmother gave me a silver fork that has five hallmarks on it.
since i dont have a camera, i try to describe it as best as i can:

the fork:
it is a long thin fork (23 cm) with a spiralled handle apparently made of ivory.
it is also spiralled towards the end and it has barbed ends so it might be a hummer fork. on the upper side near the handle and opposite to the hallmarks it has a light engraving saying " S / t ".

the hallmarks:
from left to right:
1. a lily
2. hard to identify. looks like a gondola with someone on it, rowing...
3. looks like a "B"
4. "&"
5. seems to be a "S"

does anyone know where it comes from? i don't have a clue...
thank you,

sebrock
