Hi, hopefully someone can help me here-
My mother left me this silverware; i do not know if it is silver plate or sterling. it looks like sterling to me, the uneducated. All pieces have the same monogram and mark.
The mark appears to be #521 in the picture

Hi Michael, welcome to the forum.
Silver-plated.
As indicated by your Register-Nr. 520 bis incl. 523 für versilberte und vergoldete Metallwaren or silver-plated and gold-plated Metals.
For more information about Christofle see:

Could you show us a clear image of the marks?

Oel.

Thank You Oel - You are absolutely correct. It was right in front of me the entire time.
I cannot get an image off my flatware, they are too small- But it is very clearly #521. Now enlightened, i can tell that they are infact plated.
I also realized that the monogram is for my mega-rich great grandfather, Christopher Foster Coombs, founder of the 'investment trust- Who apparently watched his pennies on this purchase... Michael
