Moeller & Co 90

Postby kobeban » Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:16 pm

The markings Moeller & Co 90 are on some silver flatware that my cousin wants me to sell for her. Her mother acquired this silverware in Germany just post WWII. The knives have Solingen blades are are also marked Rosterei. My main inquiry is if this is 90% silver, or silverplated flatware. I would also be interested in anything known about the maker.
Thank you very much.

Know little about your request but from other things read on the forum I believe your items to be silver plate. Someone will no doubt give you full details. Best wishes, Mike.

Hello, this is plate. 90 is the weight of silver in 'Gramm' used in electroplating. 'Rostfrei' is 'stainless'. There was a retailer in Solingen, 'Moellers and Co.', active in the 1950ies and 60ies. His was mostly a mail-order business. Maybe he is the one. Best wishes, Bahner

Thanks very much to all for the information posted on the Moellers 90. Very helpful, and I am very excited to find a community of folks with a wealth of information and the willingness to share.
