Silver spoons

Im not sure where I should post this..but anyway, I drew the marks on paper as my camera won't get a close enough picture. I have a set of silver spoons with the following marks on them.
Image 2 - I think it's AI but it's very hard to tell. There's also a makers mark, but also difficult to read. There are 3 letters, I believe the first one is a D. I'm not sure what the third image is.
Can anyone tell me anything about these marks.

I think the makers mark is either DSA or BSA or possibly D&S.

Could you please re-check the four marks (numbers and letters) in the lozenge as they don't seem to make sense as they are. The lozenge was used in the UK between 1843 and 1883 and shows exactly which day of which month of which year it was made and the 'parcel' number for that day. The A1 stands for A1 plate...the best silver plate. Once you establish exactly the four figures in the corners I can date them for you.

Hi Mike, thanks for the reply. I rechecked the mark, and they are exactly as I had drawn them. That paticular mark is quite clear when I look at it through a magnifying glass, it's just too small to photopgraph. So yes, those are the marks.

The British registered design lozenge is clearly explained here: http://www.great-glass.co.uk/glass%20notes/lozkey.htm The site specifically relates to glass, the only difference is metal objects were class I, the mark at the very top.

As you will see, there were two cycles. The distribution of letters versus numbers is reversed in the two series. Hence Georgiansilver's dilema - your letters/numbers aren't right!

Thanks for the input, Neruda, but yes, I have checked the letters and numbers again, and they are definately as I have stated. Top of the diamond "I"..First Number on top "4", right side "4". left side "1", bottom, "C". The mark is extremely clear so there is no mistake as to what the marks are.

Seems to me that perhaps the right-hand "4" might actually be a partially rubbed "A", which would correspond to the year 1871.

In that case the lozenge is problematic inasmuch as the number letter sequence is out of sync. Cannot help further with it...sorry. Best wishes, Mike.
