I have a silver tray (I think it is solid silver) that I believe is from East Europe / Armenia / Turkey or Russia. It is a oval tray has floral edging and is approximately 18" x 24". There is a mark of "8 'cat/fox face' 6" there is also another mark that looks like a house but it is worn off.
Please let me know what the mark is and where it might be from. Does the 8 and 6 stand for 86% silver? Please see photo. Thank you.

Hi,
Welcome to the Forum.
I hope I don't disappoint you too much, but your item is silver plated.
The 'cat's head' mark is one of the marks used by Christofle. The mark, I believe, is an indicator that the item was made in one of their branch factories, either Karlsruhe, Vienna, Musso, Peseux or Buenos-Aires.

Thank you for your reply. I thought it might be a lower quality silver due to the '86' but OK it is silver plated and that it is Christofle. Thank you again.
