AMN sterling CO Help

Postby Guest » Mon Mar 13, 2006 10:40 am

Can anybody give me a heads up on a fiddleback fork marked AMN Sterling Co. It just doesn't seem to have that sterling 'feel' (but then what do I know???). I can't seem to find the Co. listed anywhere.
Thanks!
Betsy

Good instincts! American Sterling Co. of Naubuc, CT was one of several late 19th-early 20th silverplate manufacturers that used "Sterling" in their company name, but produced only plated wares. Rainwater shows them in business from 1871-80.

Thanks so much. I have just started to collect (I especially love the place salt and peppers and open salts from Denmark) plus my girlfriend makes jewely so I at times bid on lots. :o

Again thank you! Betsy

Search ref.: "AM'N" with triangle, flag, or Sterling.
Sample of mark and pattern (tipped) mentioned here as master butter knife:
