Help needed with makers mark

Postby oli » Wed Feb 22, 2006 6:48 pm

Hi my digital cam. is not good enough to pick out the details so i will try to explain.. sorry!

These marks are on sugar tongs.

From left to right we have a capital B in a circle, an r in a half cresent within a shield shape, then possibly a harp in a shield then a circle with dots in and at the top of the line are the initials in capital D & A within a cartouche. Gosh what a lot of polishing to reveal the marks.
Any info would be appreciated. I have searched but to no avail.
Thankyou for your patience.

Ok I have borrowed an old edition of millers silver & plate by john wilson circa 1997. On page 180 under george 111 right hand e? looks like what I thought was an r and in my old copy of Bradburys 1977 page 64 the edinburgh p 1769 looks quite the same.

So from what I can see it may be quite old but that is all I have been able to find out ( but I probably am miles from being correct ).

Any info would be appreciated especially as to who D&A are / were.

Cheers for now OLI>
