Need Help...Drum Stamp on Platter

Postby gumbogrrl » Sat Jan 21, 2006 4:44 pm

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I bought a silver platter in the French Quarter today. It is quite heavy and has a grape pattern going around the edge. Nice engraving on the inside center.

It has the following stamped on the reverse:

T & T
stamp of a drum (the musical instrument)
B8811
2595-24

Thanks in advance.

Drum Mark?

Postby boroth25 » Fri Mar 02, 2007 11:21 pm

I know it has been over a year, but did you ever find out about the drum mark? I have a tray, from a family member, that has the drum mark and the T&T and I cannot find a maker for it either. Thanks for any info.

That sounds like a mark used by Taber & Tibbits, Wallingford, Connecticut. Founded in 1919. In business until about 1941.

Yep, that is it. Thank you! I just at this moment was on a site called Chicago Silver and there it was also! At least I have a clue now to the date.
Regards,
Bo
