Finnish Trinket Box Identifiation

Postby ruthie » Thu Dec 15, 2005 2:12 pm

I tried to post this yesterday, but I can't seem to find it--I am not very computer savvy! We have a Finnish oval trinket box, and it is marked in a way I have not seen before. I believe it is from Finland, as our entire silver collection was from a great aunt in Finland, and every other piece is from Finland. It is marked 8305, and also there are marks that look like:
III A V K. Does anyone have a clue what these marks mean? I cannot scan the marks--they are in a difficult place, and not easy to distinguish with the eye--We used 5 powers to get as far as we did! Thank you so much for your time.
PS The weird looking thing on the top of the box is the cuckoo chain on the wall behind the silver piece--Sorry!

Not Finnish

Hi!

The box is not Finnish but either Norweigian or Danish. The silver mark is 830S, in Finland there is a different marking. It is common in Finland that there are silver from other Scandinavian countries as there are close relations and lots of traveling between these countries.
