Postby John Eric » Mon Jul 19, 2010 1:39 pm

What an outstanding forum, thank you for allowing me to visit. I have attached a photo of marks on a 19" long footed bowl. Any information you can provide will be greatly appreciated...EricImage

Hi,

Your bowl is made bij Koninklijke Begeer. A well known Dutch company. BV Koninklijke Van Kempen & Begeer is the owner of the brands BK, Keltum, Gero and RoyalVKB. The company started in 1768 in the silver industries.
Today the company is specialised in productdevellopment and marketing of cookware and cutlery.
Since 2008 the company is part of the Royal Delft Group

Or:

If I look at the pseudo Lion passant, I do not believe it is made out of solid silver, but silver plated. We do not see a valid Dutch date letter. The crowned capital letter B stand for Koninklijke Begeer or Royal Dutch Begeer.

Regards,

Oel

Thanks Oel, you have been most helpful. This piece was tested and is silver so I will look for additional marks on the bowl...John Eric
