silver plate tea box

Postby davidtheeighth » Tue Mar 24, 2009 11:27 am

I have a silver plate (there is no hallmark on it) tea box. It has a very distinctive goose on a crown makers logo and I was wondering whether anyone can tell me something about this mark, and maybe its date. I enclose two photos.
Many thanks

The goose & crown are an armorial device taken from the crest of the owning family. Trademarks and maker's marks tended to be small and placed in more obscure areas of a piece.

Regards, Tom
