National Silver Co

I have several butter knives marked National Silver Co and then in what appears to be a crown divided into 3 sections the letters K E S.
Is this sterling? What does the K E S stand for?

Hello.
On American silver after roughly 1860, solid silver is stamped sterling.
It was in the manufacturer's own best interests to do so.
If it's not marked sterling it's silverplated.

KES stands for King Edward Silver.

Pat.
