waving triangular pennant with numbers above & below HEL

Postby lancer525 » Tue Sep 06, 2005 3:23 pm

What this is, is the mark on the bottom of a heavy silverplate serving tray. The rim of the tray is beaded, with approximately 1/16" size beads, and the handles are also beaded with 1/4" to 1/2" beads. The mark is on the bottom of the piece, and it is a triangular waving pennant with the letters "W & H" inside the pennant. The number "22" is directly over the pennant, and the number "3331" is directly below the pennant. The sketch I have looks as close to the mark as I could get, after several attempts.

PLEASE help me identify this mark!

Walker & Hall of Sheffield.

George Walker was joined by William Hall in 1848 and they became Walker & Hall in 1853. I beleive the company was taken over by Mappin & Webb in the 1960 although the name may have continued.
