Trying to Identify Markings on a Mexican Medallion

Postby silverbfly » Tue Jun 13, 2006 1:59 am

Hi, bought this Silver Medallion and am trying to find out what the markings on the back mean. I looked at your section on Mexican Silver Markings...but didn't see anything resembling this. Can anyone help?

TV02
Mexico
950

(???...Can't make out the first number, but think it is a 9 in
the 950 )

Thanks,

Silver

Around 1980 Mexico changed from its Eagle silver mark to a letter and number system. The T in TV-02 stands for the city Taxco. The V is the first letter of the maker's first or last name (sorry, don't know who that is). 02 means the second individual or company who registered the TV mark.
