Mark on Russian fork

Postby antiquer » Fri Sep 14, 2007 2:35 pm

Interesting mark that I have not seen before. It was found on a Russian piece of flatware dating to circa 1900. The item was also stamped with regular Russian assay and makers mark, but this mark was stamped well away from them, as if added later or as an import mark from another country. It appears to be a helmeted man with huge moustaches seen in 3/4 profile. Would very much like to ID it.
Many thanks, AinA

Hello AinA-

Could please post a complete composite of the marks and a picture of the item itself? It may help in identifying the mark in question. To my simple mind it looks like the "MAN IN THE IRON MASK" (just kidding)

Regards- Byron
