Mumser(or Mumfer) Furth silver

Postby Woodfield » Tue May 29, 2007 9:49 pm

Do not have good photo to post. Silver is marked 800 with crescent and crown dating it post 1888 per this website. Under marks are words Mumser(of Mumfer) followed by Furth. Furth I have learned is in Bavaria. I coould not find this in hallmark photo section of German silver. Any help to ID this family silver set is most appreciated.

Hello, there was a jeweller and goldsmith, J. G. Humbser, listed around 1900 in Fürth, Frankonia region of Germany. He probably was the retailer rather than the maker of the pieces mentioned. A pic might tell... Best wishes, Bahner

Many thanks to Bahner who provided the answer to this id. The silver was manufactured by Koch and Bergfeld with the jeweller's name and city, Humbser Furth later stamped on each piece (sometimes over the hallmarks).
