I'm not positive that this is even british, but there do appear to be crown looking stamps in there.Image

Those look like Swedish marks used since 1912.

Thanks, does that put the date as 1776? seems a little too old for that date code... I appreciate your help!

Sorry, but no, your piece does not date to 1776. The S in your mark is not a date mark.
The S is part of a state mark that has been used since 1912.

With that "935" and what looks like nice guilloche enamel, Austria might be a good guess for the country of origin. No other marks?

no other marks that I see... whats strange is that it looks more like gold than silver...

It is gold plated silver, 935 standard, the Swedish marks are import marks. Cheryl's suggestion of Austria as its place of origin makes sense, just the type of work they produced a lot of there in the teens and twenties.
