Origin on Conch Nautilus Shell Vesta? Loth and date letter

Post by dartsil »

HI All.

This one if we just worked with the super tiny marks on lid edge may prove difficult to determine much, maybe someone can determine whats what from the edge marks, however what may put me on the right road is the lid top, within the pattern you can see 13 which will be 13 Loth and a date letter I am guessing which is (n) ,(3rd image down)

What Country or Countries used a loth system with a date letter?

Seen plenty of similar items which are modern reproductions but this is an antique example. I am guessing 1870-1900

Any help on this interesting one would be appreciated.

Regards,
Colin

Hi Colin,

Looks like Hanau and made by Neresheimer.

Cheers,
Steve

Cheers Steve.

I was thinking the n was a date letter which has thrown me on the wrong tangent.

Thanks again,
Colin
