Hi all!
I need help with the marks on these two vases. Is this Hanau or France?
I have a very similar vase with the mark of Simon Rosenau from Bad Kissingen, but the marks on these vases are unknown to me.
Thanks in advance.
Hanau or France?
Re: Hanau or France?
Hi,
Simon Rosenau had well documented ties with Hanau industry, most notably with Neresheimer and Schleissner.
It has been postulated that most of ‚‚historical‚‚ silver marked by Rosenau was actually made by other Hanau silversmiths.
The example bellow shows SR mark with chalice and pellets mark, which is well documented Schleissner mark.
Having in mind various combinations of Hanau marks and their crossover, it is really difficult to attribute your items with absolute certainty to any of Hanau silversmiths. Based on similarity, the best candidate is Rosenau, but on the other hand, he had silver made by other silversmiths in Hanau.

Hello friends!
Many thanks for your replies.
I also assumed that these vases are from Hanau but I was confused by the mark "P" under the crown.
