Hi,
I think it`s Ivan Futikin (PL 2537) ИФ
Unlike in Hungarian language, given name comes first, family name always in the second place.#

I bet on Futikin too (1863-1897 #P2527, not 2537). The fineness mark has notches (1882-1898). Fyodor Ivanov was active 1843-1882. The hallmark's year seems to be 1883, or?

My mistake with PL number.
This is from Skurlov:
Futikin Ivan Ivanovich, mentioned 1863 - 1897.Had 12 workers in 1894.PL 2526 and 2527.

ФУТИКИН Иван Иванович, влад. маст. сер. изд. Упоминается в 1863–1897 гг. В 1894 г. имел 12 рабочих.
Постникова—Лосева: клейма №№ 2526, 2527.

Beside the inconsistency in years mentioned by Qrt.S (Fedor Ivanov active 1843-1882), his initials were ФИ not ИФ.
Alphabetical listings are always with family names first for obvious reasons (you cannot list by given names John, Joseph and Joshua).
Western name system: given name, followed by middle names (if any), followed by family name. Since this is the convention best known to English speakers, the given and family name are usually called the "first" and "last" name in English. The only European culture that places the family name first is the Hungarians.

Very funny my Good man AG2012 :-)))))))). What do you see when you turn the mark up side down? Sometimes with Russian marks it is impossible know how the mark is punched because some letters look the same also up side down. Se below, who is who?

Ok. The marks are in a silver cigar box with beautiful engraving style trompe l'oeil. So this maybe could help about the maker's specific. The box is not my own, but if it is necessery, I will try to ask the owner.

Qrt.S you are a genius ! ФИ анд ИФ the same when upside down.
Now really the style might be of some help and F. Ivanov being active 1843-1882.

I oversaw that the assayer AA i.e. Anatoly Artsibaschev assayed in Moscow 1888-1898 (sorry). In other words the assaying year is 1888 and not 1883 as I first assumed. That settles the case. The maker must be Futikin.

Hi huszas76 -

Futikin is among other things (tea glass holders, salts, spoons etc) known for his nice cigarette cases.
