K. Faberge - genuine marks?

Postby sebastian4743 » Sat Aug 08, 2015 4:44 am

I came across of two salt spoons that are supposed to be from the Karl Faberge workshop. As they are very very expensive I would like to check the marks with you - the experts. Are they genuine?

Hi,

Just a few questions, are there no other marks, like city/assay mark? Without looking at the marks do you rekognize the outstanding craftmanship and quality of Fabergé? Do you like to buy the spoons and if so perhaps as an investment?
Please see:

Read:

Think yourself; who is the seller, can I trust him and/or do I have enough expertise to recognize a fake Faberge, can I hold and visual inspect the spoons, and/or can I effort the cost to hire an reliable expert, if not better forget it.

Best,

Oel.

The vast majority of Fabergé objects for sale on the (internet-)markets are fakes. Some of them very good ones....unfortunately...When the marks on an object are so incomplete and suspicious as in this case, I would just forget the whole thing. One of the problems is that both the town mark and assaying mark is missing!
Do as Oel suggests, read the given links carefully. In addition, please read other threads in this section regarding Russian silver and fakes. My advice is that if you don't know what you are buying and must ask others, don't buy.

Thank you both for the reply and advice! I will step aside this time - thank you for making me less emotional.
