Spoon - 3 hallmarks

Postby kovsky » Sat Jul 25, 2015 5:44 pm

Hi,

I'm wondering if anyone would please be kind enough to help me identify these hallmarks?

It's on a spoon. I'm not sure which country it's from however.

Hi Kovsky,

Welcome to the Forum.

It's Italian, Petruzzi & Branca of Brescia.

Thanks dognose, that's enormously helpful!! Do you have an idea of the age or do you need more photos for that? Is it worth asking in the Italian section of the forum? Also do you know what each separate hallmark means?

Hope you're having a nice weekend.

Hi Mat,

The item would date between 1944 and around 1971. See: http://www.925-1000.com/Fitalian_marks_01.html

The '1 BS' is the official Italian registration mark, Petruzzi & Branca were the first silversmiths to register in the province of Brescia following the legal requirement of all those working in precious metals to be recorded.

The 'Crown' mark is the trade mark of Petruzzi & Branca, and the '800' indicates the standard of silver, 800/1000.

It's always good to see images of the whole item, someone may recognise the style of the piece and provide more infprmation.

Wow thanks so much!

Here is another photo - my family has a large set of cutlery and they've never known who it was made by. You've been so helpful. I've contacted Petruzzi & Branca too.
