I am looking for info on a hallmark MOON CROWN 800 "MAN HIKING" BMF

That's a German set of marks.
BMF was a West Germany company. Sorry, I don't know much about them.

All I can tell you is that this crescent moon and crown mark was used starting in 1884. Don't know the history of the company.
The only reason I recognized the mark is because they also made pewter lids for German beer steins ( I collect them ).

Hello, BMF plus the hiking man is for Bergische Metallwarenfabrik Deppmeyer and Company. First in Solingen, later in Burgkunstadt, Bavaria. Founded in 1908, active at least until the 1980ies. If I am not mistaken, production of silver cutlery was taken up after 1945. This BMF made just cutlery, so the BMF on the pewter lid is probably for Berndorfer Metallwarenfabrik, which made articles like that, among other objects. Best wishes, Bahner
