I have a Hanau piece, which has import marks for London, 1896 and the importer was William Moehring, but I have been unable to identify the maker mark.

I have checked through the Hanau pages, but no joy in finding out who made it.

I would appreciate it if anyone does know who it is or point me in the right direction.

I think that isn't Hanau mark. I beleive it's Dutch pseudomark for export items and it's very similar to mark of Dutch city of Sneek. See viewtopic.php?f=5&t=32028
William Moering (mark "WM") was English "foreign agent" who often worked with Dutch silver.

It is similar, but not exactly the same as the mark for the city of Sneek.

I know William Moehring was an importer and did import Hanau, as his mark is included on 925.com Hanau pages, hence why I thought it was a Hanau makers mark.

I did find this mark on another website last night, there was a total of four marks on the item (a silver basket) one of the four marks is attributed to Neresheimer and is listed in Sheffler

Yes, you are right - it's Neresheimer's mark.

But that does not necessarily mean this is by Neresheimer, as it only has one mark. If it helps the object is a chatelaine.
