Hi Blond mix,

Please check for other marks, the mark showing; VE under a hammer& punch pin; the mark of a Dutch silversmith named: Yvo Theodorus van Erp, located in the city of Leeuwarden during 1857/1908.
The marks to look for; Dutch lion or standard mark, Minerva head or office mark with regional assay office letter F(Leeuwarden and the date letter.

Hi Oel
Thanks for your help, i have searched the snuff box but can not find any other marks, maybe the other marks have been rubbed away on the base as Yvo Theodorus van Erp's mark is pretty rubbed, was he a good silversmith, i dont know anything about him

Hi Blond_minx,

Often, this kind of box we call in Dutch; pepermunt doosje or peppermint box.
This silver Rembrandt peppermint box probably has been made around 1906, to celebrate Rembrandt van Rijn’s birth date 300 years ago, on the 15th of July 1606.
In can not believe all other marks to be rubbed out and those tiny little marks could be hidden in the decoration. For more information see;

Best,

Oel.
