Hi. I'm relatively new on these forums, and I would like to know if anybody out there can help me out with this.
Just recently, my uncle came into possession of a pair of antique grape scissors. We've already confirmed the scissors to be dated around 1869, and is of British origin (the queen's head is facing the left, there is a lion hallmark next to a crown on one side of the scissor blades, and there is a B mark encased in an octagonal block facing the queen's head on the opposite side).
We currently have no pictures of the scissors on hand, but there is what appears to be a maker's mark below to the lion hallmark. Marked on this maker's mark are the initials RMEH. It is in this cloverleaf shape, with 'RM' in the top row, and 'EH' in the bottom row. We would really appreciate it if somebody could tell us what this means, and who could possible be the manufacturer of this piece of silverware.
Also, on the handle of the grape shears, there is another mark that we cannot quite identify. It is a segmented diamond shape. On the top half of it, in separate parts, the numbers 1 and 18 can be seen, with 18 below the 1. Below this, from left to right, '6RDX' is written, and then there is a G below it. I will try to secure a picture when I get the opportunity to, but I was wondering if anybody out there knew what I am talking about and can help me out with this.
Thanks in advance.
