Unknown silver hallmarks

Postby Smokanabeach » Sat Mar 17, 2012 10:53 am

Hello everybody!

Here is a picture of silver hallmarks that I can not identify. I only find the hallmark "A" with a "1" which is an autrichian hallmark from 1896 for importated silver items:

Thank you for your precious help!

The other three marks are pseudo-marks used in Hanau, Germany; see here: Hanau Pesudo-Marks. Scheffler attributes these marks to J. D. Schleissner Söhne, but I personally think his attribution is a little flimsy. Still, I have no better suggestion to offer.

Hope this helps!

Ref: Wolfgang Scheffler, Goldschmiede Hessens (Berlin/New York: Walter de Gruyter, 1976), p. 530; marks 478, 481 & 482.

Many thanks Blackstone! I hadn't think about Hanau and it could be an answer! I Will continue my research on this basis!

Best regards
