Please help identify this Marrow Scoop

Postby Scott D'Errico » Fri Feb 17, 2006 2:56 pm

Firstly I just want to apologize for probably breaking every board posting rule on my very first post. I have no idea why the photos didn't post on the other board. Please delete those messages.

In any event:

I recently purchased a Fiddle pattern marrow scoop. I have not been able to figure out the Hallamarks at all looking through several guides. Can anyone please help me identify this piece as far as maker, country of origin and date of manufacture are concerned.

The marks aren't really even ones I can describe. At the top appears to be an H*F. Under that is a mark that looks like a sheave of wheat or a castle turret. Under that is what looks like an "S" laying on it's side with a parallel line above and below it. Lastly is what appears to be a cross of some type.

Thanks and sorry for the posting foul up,
Scott

This is not so easy to guess without a proper image

However, if the first looks like a castle and the second one is actually a lion passant (may look like a long S on its side actually) then this might be Sterling Silver from Edinburgh.
