Cadiz 1780 Silver Spoon

Postby Granmaa » Thu Jul 07, 2011 6:51 am

I've found out that the mark on the far right is for Cadiz, Spain, but I'd be interested to know about Faxardo and G. Villin. Are they the smith and assay master?

Hello Miles

Faxardo was assay master of cadiz city. The full name is ANTONIO FAXARDO. Appears in my books between 1745 and 1800.

The silversmith was Gvillin.

Faxardo and gvillin is old spanish language. Today would be called FAJARDO AND GUILLIN or GUILLEN.
