sorry Ringo,
In Rosenberg3 Band 1,2,3
I find no match.
Only the Mark Nr. 4326 have a description "ein Hahn"(a cock) - but there was no Image.
In "Markenzeichen auf Silber (Jan Divis)" - I also find no match.

It does look very much like Frankfurt a/O, but it's always a good idea to post the maker's mark as well. Very often only by pinpointing the maker can one definitively confirm the identification a city mark (and vice versa), particularly in the cases of smaller towns.

Is the Frankfurt(Oder) cock not from right to left?

But You are right - the makers mark is a good point.

Generally yes, but there are some marks where the Frankfurt a/O rooster faces right; see Wolfgang Scheffler, Goldschmiede Mittel- und Nordost-Deutschlands (Berlin: Walter de Gruyter, 1980), pp. 41, marks 77 & 78.

The makers mark was deleted. His name was destroyed with a small Tremulierstich, so that he is not to identify.
(I wrote this message already some days ago, but it was deleted in the forum. I dont no why)

I have seen this mark with the makers-mark R. or K. Beysen.
It was a spoon "Augsburger Faden" about from 1860

Thank You Theoderich,
it is absolutely the same mark of the cock.
Here is a photo of the destroyed makers mark from my spoon. But I think, that the name is not to identify.

Kind regards,
Ringo

I can't make out the obliterated mark, but it certainly could be "R. BEYSEN", in which case it is definitely Frankfurt a/O: Carl Ferdinand Rudolph Beysen (1818-1889), citizen in Frankfurt a/O in 1847.

Thank You blakstone
for Your help to identify the Frankfurt-Oder- townmark from ~1860, and the maker R.Beysen.
