London makers mark G? above D? inside shield

Postby Sybil Kalail » Thu Nov 10, 2005 11:17 am

Lovely sifter spoon with scalloped bowl hallmarked for London, 1898. Left side of makers mark is G over D inside a shield-like shape. Impression is not clear on right side - not rubbed out but not cleanly stamped. Looks like there should be an additional inital to the right - G? over D?. Does anyone know who maker could be? I have pictures but do not know how to insert them. Thank you in advance.

One possibility which fits the date is:

G J
D F

In which case, George Maudsley Jackson and David Landsborough Fullerton who worked in Bristol but had their pieces assayed in London and Birmingham.
