Pressed Silver Mark

Post by gaymerl »

I have several pressed silver items of no great age that are marked
with a lower case g in a diamond or lozenge and usually with 925
alongside it.

Shown in the picture is the mark on the rear of a silver decanter label
but I have examples on 'Victorian style' but modern vesta cases and
golf ball markers. Although most of he items might be light enough to avoid the full assay requirements others aren't.

I suspect that these are imported into the UK for later decoration or engraving but from where? Or if they are UK where from and what maker?
If anyone can rescue me fron this ignorance on my part I'd be grateful!
