M c. flower spoon markings

Postby exquiere » Tue Nov 06, 2007 1:07 am

Hi,

This photo is of a spoon for which I'm trying to figure out its history. I've tried looking through the images on the main site, but the marks on this spoon don't match any of what I've seen.

As you can see, there's an "M" in flowing script, a "c ." in formal type, and a six-petalled flower. There are no other marks. The design is plain on the other side of the spoon.

The "M" has raised edges around the impression, while the "c ." and flower have no raised edges. Also, the "M" is fairly sloppy compared to the other marks. My guess is that the "M" was made at a different time than the other marks.

Any idea as to what it might mean?

Thanks for the help!
